Psychosis from the Horse’s Mouth
April 24, 2007 2:31 PM

Psychosis from the Horse’s Mouth by Kenneth Edwards.  Available at http://amazon.com, published 2007 by Chipmunka Publishing Company of London, 223 pages paperback, $17.00.
Author Kenneth Edwards, now residing in Richmond with relatives, was for five years a runaway homeless psychotic in Jackson, Mississippi, thinking he was the Messiah, the Buddha, the Madhi and Quetzalcoatl.  He has the Ph.D. degree in philosophy from the University of Georgia.  All those years he evaded family and psychiatic help, living in the elements only by his wits and without government aid.  He was finally committed in 2002.  Now that he has recovered, his book “Psychosis from the Horse’s Mouth” chronicles that experience of homelessness and treatment, and culminates in the development of Edwards’ new theory of psychosis together with his new therapy for the illness.
The book is free of technical jargon and enjoyable to the general intellectual public, but at the same time instructive to mental health professionals.  It tells numerous unexpected stories of homelessness and psychosis.  “Psychosis from the Horse’s Mouth” is an absorbing read for all.

Reader Comments:

I found this book to be most interesting and a valuable aid to those in the Mental Health Field.  Although the topic is deadly serious, the author plants seeds of humor scattered freely throughout the book.
